Building on past lives in brand consultancy, industry, IT, journalism, NGO campaigning,
and central and local government, the Strong Language team has a unique insight
into the potential of a sustainable marketing approach. Every project is headed
up by one of the Strong Language directors:
Esther Maughan
Director responsible for brand development, copywriting and PR
Esther is a marketing and communications professional with a strong track record
in sustainable development communications. Most recently Head of Communications
for Tony Blair's advisor, the Sustainable Development Commission, she developed
her consultancy experience in a commercial branding environment at Interbrand and
SiegelGale, with clients including Marks and Spencer, Oxfam, British Gas, Lynx,
McVitie's and Volvo, and worked on the client side as Business Development Director
for the National Council for Voluntary Organisations. Esther is the marketing chapter
contributor to the Institute of Directors' forthcoming book 'Sustainable Enterprise'
(Kogan Page 2005), is editor of The Future
of Brands (Macmillan Business 2000) and the Financial Times Profile: Pharmaceutical
Branding (1998).
Lynne Toogood
Director responsible for risk assessment and
corporate social responsibility
Lynne is a founder member of the Corporate Responsibility Coalition Wales, a member of
Cardiff University's advisory group on local food sourcing and the driving force behind
the annual Fairtrade 5k run. Lynne is a senior business manager whose core skills and
successes lie in the
planning and implementation of complex projects for clients including the governments
of Malaysia and the Philippines, the Royal Bank of Scotland, the City of San Diego
and the European Central Bank. She was consistently rated in the top 5% of performers
with her former employer Unisys, where she developed a corporate social responsibility
role, with a particular focus on diversity issues. Lynne holds an MSc in Responsibility
and Business Practice from Bath University, for which she established a cross- sector
project to clean up a Malaysian National Park.
